Milton

Originally serving as a river crossing and trade center along the Vermilion River for both farmers and ranchers, Milton was named in 1886 after Dr. Milton R. Cushman, who petitioned for the first local post office. Milton is an unincorporated area in Lafayette Parish.

Schools

Milton Elementary and Milton Middle School serve younger-area students, with older children attending class at other nearby Lafayette Parish school locations.
